Digital Trust for Places and Routines (DTPR)
In 2019, DTPR began as an open collaborative design project that involved more than 150 technology experts and members of the public – including our founder, Jackie Lu.
It was born out of a response to community and stakeholder concerns about data privacy, surveillance, and the complexity of smart technologies spotlighted during the planning of a technologically advanced community in Toronto.
How it works: By focusing on transparency and accessibility, DTPR helps bridge the gap between technology governance and the public by providing a structured framework for officially documenting critical facts the public wants to know:

Purpose: The intent and function of the technology.

Accountability: Who is responsible for managing and overseeing it.

Data Practices: What data is collected, along with how it is processed, stored, and protected.
